What side do you print on a mug?
The side facing you is where you’d want to put the decal for a left-handed person. If the person is right handed, you’d want to put the vinyl decal on the side of the mug that would be facing outward while they’re holding the mug.
What side do you put a decal on a mug?
The general rule is the coffee mug decal should be facing outward while the person is holding the mug in their dominate hand. Not only does this allow the logo to be seen by others while you’re drinking out of the mug, but it places the vinyl decal on the opposite side of where you’ll be placing your mouth.

Acrylic paint is also suitable for most ceramic mugs. However, some acrylics are designed specifically for unglazed ceramics. Check the label before purchasing. After you paint your mug and allow it to dry, use a clear sealant to add shine and prevent the acrylic paint from cracking.
How do you make a Sharpie stay on a mug?
Bake the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 °F. Remember to place the mug in the oven before it heats up and leave it in until the oven cools completely so there won’t be any cracks. You can choose to bake the mugs twice to really set in the Sharpie drawings. Care and wash.
Do Sharpie mugs wash off?
I can tell you from experience that a regular Sharpie, baked or unbaked, will just wash right off the mug. You HAVE TO use an oil-based paint Sharpie. This will help make your design permanent. After you’ve designed the mug in oil-based Sharpie, you’ll need to let the design dry for at least 24 hours.
